The SheShed is at the bottom of Annette Johnson’s garden in Sherburn, between Leeds and York. It started life 17 years ago as a playhouse. “I wish everyone could have a little space like this,” says Annette, 47, an executive assistant to the head of economics at the University of York. “I love lighting candles, but we have electricity, too. It’s like my little secret jewel, plain outside, but fresh and pretty inside. I use it as a space to relax, and whenever friends come over, we sit in it.”
