Hollywood is a fickle mistress, as Russell Brand would no doubt concur. One minute you’re cast as a snake-hipped sex symbol in a relatively well-received comedy. The next you’re providing the voice for a poorly scripted, opportunistically marketed, animated bunny. Hop takes the Easter Bunny and turns him into a buck-toothed Santa knock-off who runs a candy factory and drives a sleigh towed by fluffy chicks.
Brand plays EB, the prodigal heir to the Easter legacy. He’s a maverick rabbit who would rather be the drummer in a band than follow his father into the chocolate egg dispensing business. James Marsden is Fred, EB’s human equivalent, an unemployed disappointment to his parents. David Hasselhoff gets a bizarre cameo, and judging from his performance, seems to have been paid in sherry.
