Q. How do I “age” a new brass bed? At the moment it is very shiny and yellow.

A. The only way to achieve an ageing look is to remove the bed’s protective lacquer, which you can do by using any make of brass polish. Beware, however, for once you have done that, the bed will need polishing at least once a month to to prevent it from going green.

A better option might be to leave the bed untouched for a year, by which time the natural ageing processes will have taken effect on the brass.
