Home is where the money is

Crawley can maintain their push for the play-off places in the Nationwide Conference by beating visitors Morecambe on Monday evening, a match which will be shown live on Sky.

Crawley have the best home record in the league, with 36 points out of 45 this term, putting together 11 wins and three draws. Indeed, only Barnet, the runaway leaders, have won at Crawley in the league this season.

A win last week took Crawley up to second in the table, but so congested is the league behind Barnet that Saturday’s results have dropped them down to seventh.

Morecambe, thirteenth but with games in hand, have not played in the league since January 29, when they secured a 2-1 home win over Halifax, although they have been active in the FA Trophy and League Cup.

Their away record is no better than respectable with four wins from 14 starts, although they are not easy to beat, having also accumulated seven draws.

Crawley are missing defender Sacha Opinel, sent off at Woking nine days ago, but have recruited Joe Healy, a forward on loan from Millwall.

Given the strength of Crawley’s home record, totesport have erred on the side of generosity by offering 6-5 - Coral quote 5-6 - and that is worth taking.

Morecambe are best at 13-5 with Blue Square, the draw top at 12-5 with Coral.
