Hit or miss: Nicolas Anelka

We want your opinions on Nicolas Anelka. Is he the genuine article or vastly overrated? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Is he on the up or on the slide? Share your insight with us and the best comments will form part of his official Times Online player profile.

NA has had his time. I thought Henry didn’t smile enough but this guy takes the biscuit. The career of a Football player is very short and especially if they get injured. His two goals against Arsenal were the typical play against your old club symdrome. He should show his appreciation a bit more and express himself more. This is the only way we’ll see the old NA.

Its amazing isn’t it how Shaun Wright-Phillips and Nicolas Anelka left Manchester City for so called greater opportunities.SWP was an England certainty for the World Cup when at Manchester City and has disappeared at Chelsea. Anelka also made a bad choice in going to Fenerbache and Bolton is another poor move for him. But hey!! These are massive clubs they have gone to and money never entered the equation, did it? Much as I admired them both whilst at Manchester City I would not want them back now.

Simple as this, HIT. I’m A newcastle fan and I would love to have him in my team, you just know that he’s going to score GOALS anywhere he plays. He can score with his head, left foot, right foot, inside the box and outside the box and for 7 Mil its a good deal look at James Beattie and all the other playerrs at &mil and more and you’ll see that Bolton have done some good business there.

He is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. I hope he has motivated himself finally because watching him play is so frustrating, although I like what I have seen so far this season in the Prem.

Anelka is World Class. The BEST place where Anelka’s finishing and skills will be showcased is back at The Arsenal. We ALL KNOW The Arsenal play the BEST Football ever seen in The British Isles. Mr Wenger and Mr Dein please bring Anelka back. We NEED him DESPERATELY. Our forthcoming Champions League Match against Porto will have to be played WITHOUT Henry. If we lose Arsenal WILL drop OUT of the Champions League and if we are lucky we will drop into the Uefa Cup if we are unlucky we will fall out of European Football altogether this season. If Fowler the prodigal son can return to Liverpool, WHY can’t Anelka return to The Arsenal.

Anelka has talent but needs to work on and improve his temperament. When he was at Arsenal in the last century, the Frenchman looked absolutely dazzling but that move to Real Madrid in the 1999 summer undid it all for me. He has yet to settle in the Premeirship but the display against Arsenal in which he scored twice was a timely reminder that with a little more determination and form, Anelka can put more than 15 goals in a season in the back of the opposition’s net. He is of course not the same player that he was once, but Big Sam ought to persevere with him.

Anelka is vastly overrated and big Sam should get rid of him as all he does is sulk when not given the ball. He does have plenty of ability, but is too lazy to fulfil it. Big Sam has got his work cut out to get the best out of him, and I would not be all that surprised if he did move on in the transfer window. Nothing but a big waste of space as Bolton need more loyal and dedicated players, such as Kevin Nolan. Sam should look for a more complete forward in the next transfer window.

A natural talent, quick, strong and decent touch. His weakness has always been his attitude, but from what I’ve seen this season he has put that behind him and is looking a threat to even the top teams. Please come back to Liverpool Nicolas, and bring a midfielder with you.
