The day will be dominated by the 100 metres final, with Usain Bolt against Justin Gatlin shaping up to be the biggest clash of the world championships just over an hour after Ennis-Hill and Johnson-Thompson complete their event.

Fraser-Pryce the one to beat
It was in Beijing in 2008 that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce produced a huge shock to win 100 metres gold. Since then, the Jamaican has won another Olympic gold in London, a world gold in 2009 and another over 200 metres in 2013. She will be favourite to add to her medal haul in the 100 metres final.

Rutherford looks to complete set
Greg Rutherford aims to become only the fifth athlete in history to hold titles from the Olympic Games, world championships, Commonwealth Games and European championships in the long jump final. David Rudisha will be hoping to reverse recent form with Nijel Amos in the 800 metres final.

Child holds outside chance
Kaliese Spencer, of Jamaica, should be a strong favourite for the women’s 400 metres hurdles, but has been struggling with injury. Eilidh Child, Scotland’s European champion, will be an outside hope of a medal. Kirani James will be hard to beat in the men’s 400 metres, but Javon Francis, 20, from Jamaica, could be a star in the making.

Bolt v Gatlin (part two)
Prepare for Bolt v Gatlin again in the 200 metres final, although Zharnel Hughes, recently added to the Great Britain team, has high hopes. With Sanya Richards-Ross failing to make it through the US trials, Allyson Felix is a strong favourite for gold in the 400 metres final, but Christine Ohuruogu will be hoping to find form.
