Sir, Some years ago, fearing burglars, I hid a valuable gold watch chain, once belonging to my grandfather, so well that when I came to move house I couldn’t for the life of me find it (letters. February 8, etc). It is probably still there.
In my new house, with my loss heavy on my mind, I searched the place to see if my predecessors had done something similar, and found a mysterious package behind the hot water cistern.
The previous owners referred me to the owners before them, who were overjoyed to be reunited, years later, with the ashes of the wife’s father.
