HFW is one of only five foreign law firms, and the only one headquartered in the UK, to be given approval to set up a representative office in the Greater Bay Area by the Ministry of Justice of China.

Its global disputes practice has advised the “all-risk” consortium on a complex claim brought by AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, after more than 100 of its aircraft were stranded in Russia after the purported termination of leases in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. At a potential value of about $3.5 billion, it is thought to be the largest single exposure in the history of the aviation insurance market.
