Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

EA/all formats (£29.99-£49.99)

The tie-in to the fifth Harry Potter film is a slick piece of work that plays well whether you are wandering the grounds of Hogwarts or casting spells to fight off unruly Slytherins. The game gains in enchantment by allowing players to assume the roles of Dumbledore, Sirius and Fred and George Weasley as it progresses, but loses its magic during the overlong video interludes.

Despite the 35 set tasks on offer, the name of the game is discovery rather than action, giving us mere Muggles the chance to retrace the steps of the boy wizard – eight points to Gryffindor!
