Gyrotonics exercise

Sir, I found your article on gyrotonics (T2, August 20) negative and superficial.

My daughter is a gyrotonics instructor in the United States, and she has been through a long and intensive training programme. My husband, who is a retired surgeon and a major sceptic about all things “alternative”, was deeply impressed with the method. It logically uses rotary rather than the linear movements that most other forms of exercise are based on.

The fact that so many clients are elderly people, or those recovering from illnesses and operations who have been brought back to pain-free mobility and high-energy levels of wellbeing, speaks for itself.

Yours faithfully,

JOAN VAN POZNAK,
