Gun crime deaths in 2006

Eleven men and women have died so far this year in “black on black” killings investigated by Scotland Yard’s Operation Trident team. They are:

Barrington Samuels,a 19 year old barman, was shot by two men as he sat in the driver’s seat of his 4x4 vehicle outside a nightclub in Hackney, north London, on 2 January.

Matthew Smith,21, was shot on 4 January in south London when he refused to hand over a mobile phone outside a block of flats in south London.

Leon Adams was found shot in the street just after midnight on 13 January in Notting Hill, West London. The 26 year old was discovered lying in an alleyway dressed in a mink trimmed jacket but with only 20p in his pocket.

Norman Delopp was shot in the back in Thornton Heath, south London on 16 February. The 35 year old died later in hospital.

Leyla Djemal-Northcott, 21, and Jordan Jackson, 20, were shot by masked men in their flat in Upper Norwood, south London, on 7 March. Two men, wearing either ski masks or balaclavas, knocked on the door before carrying out the killings.

Andrew Wonojo was shot in Brockley, south London, on 8 April. The 26 year old was driven to the scene before being killed.

Colin Brown died on an estate in East Finchley, north London, on 12 April. He was 38 and was stabbed and shot. Two men have been charged with his murder.

Fabian Ricketts, 18, from Mitcham, was found shot dead in York Road, Battersea, on 17 April.

Peter Oduwole, 37, who ran a music promotion company called Cosa Nostra, was shot dead as he handed out leaflets in Hackney, East London, on 17 April.

Jason Greene 29, was killed as he took his two young sons to school in Wembley on July 18. A teenager has been charged with the murder.
