TERRY GREEN, the former Allders chief, is considering taking on the lease of the group’s flagship store in Croydon, South London, until it is demolished for redevelopment.
The development emerged yesterday as administrators announced a further 139 redundancies at the collapsed department store chain.
The move would mark a step down for Mr Green, who said that it was one of a number of options he was considering.
The former Debenhams chief executive would have to buy the lease to the Allders store from Andrew Pepper, Alastair Beveridge and Fraser Gray, of Kroll, the company’s joint administrators, who were appointed last month.
The freehold is owned by Minerva, the property company that is a major shareholder in Allders’ parent company, Scarlett Retail, and Mr Green would have to gain permission from his former bosses to rent the Croydon outlet.

Allders’ administrators confirmed yesterday that the first store closure, in Nottingham, would take place on March 24 with the loss of 139 jobs.
