Grandmother’s throat slashed

A GRANDMOTHER was murdered in broad daylight as she walked home from her daughter’s house.

Marie Harding, 73, was passing through woodland when she was attacked and left for dead, her throat slashed. Her handbag and purse were found by her side, in Southwick, East Sussex.

Mrs Harding, who lived in Southwick, East Sussex, with her husband Jim, was found by a dog walker at 4.20pm on Wednesday. The fit pensioner worked in the ticket office at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, where a minute’s silence will be held today.

A club spokesman said: “She had a great love for the club and worked extremely hard processing ticket applications. She was great fun and had a very positive outlook on life. She was always smiling. Marie lived life to the full.”

Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert said: “It was violent attack. Her husband is devastated.”
