Graham Onions takes place of Andrew Flintoff in Champions Trophy squad

Graham Onions has replaced the injured Andrew Flintoff in England’s Champions Trophy squad, the ECB have confirmed.

The Durham fast bowler takes Flintoff’s place in the 15-man party for the tournament in South Africa, and will also provide bowling cover for the remainder of the NatWest Series against Australia.

Onions joins up with the one-day squad in Southampton tomorrow ahead of the third match of seven.

Flintoff has incurred a deep vein thrombosis in his right calf following knee surgery. The 31-year-old underwent an operation upon the conclusion of the Ashes and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of six months.
