Goodwin’s story began in 1912 in Massachusetts with a chance encounter on a Boston sidewalk. After some friendly conversation, two young lawyers — who had been classmates at college — decided to start their own law practice. Today, it has nearly 2,000 lawyers advising innovators and investors across the life sciences, private equity, real estate, technology and financial industries.

In London, its private equity and real estate teams recently advised TowerBrook Capital Partners in connection with the sale of a stake in the real estate lending platform Precede Capital Partners to affiliates of QuadReal. TowerBrook, QuadReal and Precede Capital Partners also formed a joint venture with plans to commit up to £1 billion to deploy into development loans.

Its global life sciences team advised Biocon Biologics on its $3.335 billion acquisition of the global biosimilars business of its partner Viatris. Its Cambridge and London technology and life sciences teams advised the Cambridge life science AI solutions company OKRA.ai on its acquisition by Envision Pharma Group.
