Sir, What a pity that A Dangerous Book for Girls was not written instead (comment, June 14).

A trip down a typical toy aisle will reveal that boys’ toys still promote shamelessly childlike fun, indoors or outdoors.

Girls find themselves among products solely connected with beauty or motherhood. It is they who are missing out on the essence of an adventurous, carefree childhood.
