Giantkillers Northwich face Lincoln in second round

Wayne Riley scored the single goal that gave his side Northwich Victoria, of the Conference North, an FA Cup first-round win over League One Charlton. He scored nine minutes from time to secure Northwich’s place in the second round, where they will face Lincoln City at home.

Non-League Kettering will take on former FA Cup winners Leeds in the second round of the competition. The Blue Square Premier side were rewarded for yesterday’s 1-0 win over Hartlepool with a home draw against the runaway Coca-Cola League One leaders, who won the FA Cup in 1972.

Blue Square North side Northwich Victoria, who beat Charlton 1-0 earlier today, were drawn at home to Lincoln. Staines Town of the Blue Square South, the conquerors of Shrewsbury in the first round, could meet another League One team in Millwall, if the Lions see off AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.

York, who ended Crewe’s hopes in the last round, were given a tricky-looking trip to Blue Square Premier rivals Cambridge United. Blue Square South side Bath City, who beat Grimsby yesterday, were paired with Forest Green or Mansfield.

Elsewhere, Northampton are at home to Southampton, Hereford face Colchester, Wrexham are up against Swindon and Milton Keynes Dons take on Exeter. Tranmere or Leyton Orient play Aldershot, Bournemouth are up against Notts County, Oxford United play Barrow and Stockport host Torquay.
