What does an economic development officer do?

They aim to regenerate and develop the local economy by fostering local enterprise. “It’s enormously varied,” says Norman Frost, business development manager for Wandsworth Borough Council. “It’s about really knowing your area, the prospects for local prosperity and growth and understanding the economy.” They train the local workforce, help small businesses and draw up strategies.
