Until now, dance-mat games have suffered from a bland, overfamiliar selection of tracks to get down to. This title, however, creates a dancing challenge to any CD you pop into your PS2. You can boogie to music you know and love, or make friends perform to the Crazy Frog. Gameplay is standard dance fare: on-screen icons tell you when to step right, left and so on, with a fitness option to reveal how many calories you’re burning. It makes for energetic, enjoyable and addictive fun, assuming you’ve got rhythm. Available without the rather basic mat for £29.99. Four stars David Phelan
Saint’s Row
Xbox 360, £49.99; ages 18+
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then this is one huge, fawning love letter to Grand Theft Auto, aping the familiar car-stealing, crime-spree template right down to its choice of radio-station soundtracks. Still, Saint’s Row improves on the combat and navigation, and provides ample opportunities to do the wrong thing, with dynamic gang warfare and strong, well-balanced missions. Vivid lighting and realistic physics make good use of the Xbox 360, though the game lacks the witty period detail and invention of Vice City and San Andreas. It’s difficult to tell whether the violent lifestyle is being lampooned or celebrated, but the mix of murder, mayhem and cheap scams does a great job of making crime play. Four stars Stuart Andrews
