The second-generation SPro mini smart projector has a 5-inch touch screen, runs Android 4.4 KitKat and has a bunch of built-in apps. With a brightness rating of 200 lumens it projects HD 720p images, while integrated 4G means it can work as an independent hotspot. It can be controlled remotely via smartphone and has 16GB of storage. Battery life is only 2.5 hours, however — so you’ll need a power socket for anything starring Daniel Day-Lewis. €580, zteusa.com

Lumos LED bicycle helmet
Cycling after dark is about to get a whole lot safer. The Lumos helmet is the bright idea of Harvard-based inventor Eu-wen Ding and was funded to the tune of $810,000 (€732,000) on Kickstarter earlier this month. The helmet has 60 LED lights and a built-in accelerometer that automatically applies the central brake light when you slow down. Turns are indicated by pressing a left-right turn signal on a wireless remote located on the handlebars. The water resistant helmet is available in two sizes and is charged via USB cable. €88, lumoshelmet.co

Measuring just 6.1cm cubed, Sony’s latest wireless speaker takes portability to a new level. The tiny SRS-X11 packs a punch thanks to a deceptively powerful 10-watt output and has a battery life of up to 10 hours. Syncing is easy, while Bluetooth has a mode that lets users trade sound quality for reliability when reception is poor. €69, sony.ie

Wireless headphones come with the twin problems of compromised sound and limited battery life, but British audio expert Bowers & Wilkins reckons its latest cans overcome these shortcomings by using aptX , a CD-quality version of Bluetooth that reduces the chances of losing connection when bandwidth is limited. The 17-hour battery life means all but the most committed audiophiles will get several days usage between charges. €399.99, bowers-wilkins.eu
