It was pints all round at Shepherd Neame as the Kent brewer celebrated the completion of a modernisation of its Victorian brewery in Faversham.
The £1.25 million project included the retirement of the site’s wooden mash tuns after more than a century of service and the installation of stainless steel replacements.
To preserve the character, the Burmese teak from the old tuns was reconditioned by a local shipwright and used to clad the replacements.
Jonathan Neame, chief executive, said: “The refurbishment ensures our heritage and provides a 21st century operation.”
