From Gullane to the sands of Morar

Although beach weddings are now permitted in England and Wales, they have in fact been legal in Scotland for some time

Sir, I am delighted that couples in England and Wales will be able to celebrate their marriage on a beach (report, Mar 8), but as beach weddings have been possible for many years in Scotland, Bournemouth is unable to say that it will be offering the first beach wedding in Britain. The beaches of Scotland are popular, beautiful and romantic places and, at the last few beach weddings I have officiated at, hot and sunny.
