Francis Jeffers

Blackburn Rovers signed Francis Jeffers, the forward, on a free transfer on a two-year contract following a disappointing spell at Charlton (sty here). Jeffers had a loan spell at Glasgow Rangers (Jeffers beats deadline to join Rangers;Football Source: The Times Issue Date: Thursday September 01, 2005) but was unable to regain his form while in Scotland. He did not play any first team games last season for Charlton, with Darren Bent’s form providing one reason why Jeffers was so far down the pecking order. In the 2004-05 season Jeffers also struggled, managing three goals in nine Premiership starts following his £2.6million move from Arsenal. His early career was hugely successful, with a haul of 18 goals in 49 Premiership games for Everton. Subsequently, he earned a transfer to Arsenal in 2001 but won only four Premiership starts while at Highbury.
