Wigan could barely contain their delight after capturing highly rated defender Fitz Hall. He is tall and quick, two key attributes required for the demands of the Premiership. Hall had to show his qualities in the tough learning curve of England’s lower leagues. At Oldham, he produced a series of high quality performances which attracted the scouts. Southampton grabbed him in 2003 but his old boss, Ian Dowie, signed him in August 2004. Hall got his first goal for Palace against West Brom in October, 2004. He was coveted by a number of different clubs before eventually picking Wigan. Paul Jewell, Wigan manager, said Hall was the complete defender at the time of the signing in June 2006.
