The fitness star Joe Wicks has quadrupled the size of his online business in the past year, and is now worth more than £3m.

The Body Coach Online Nutrition, the company running Wicks’s fitness website, shot from £679,365 in assets in 2015 to almost £2.9m in 2016, while the latest accounts for Wicks’s other company, Joe Wicks Ltd, show £170,000 in assets.

From humble beginnings as a personal trainer, the 31-year-old was catapulted to fame when his short online fitness videos and daily diet recipes became an internet sensation.

More than 125,000 people have paid the £147 fee for a three-month online fitness and nutrition plan from his website, while his Lean in 15 cookbook sold more than 900,000 copies in 2015, making him the bestselling fitness author on Amazon. Last year his fitness DVD beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be the most pre-ordered for Christmas.
