First Artist takes to the stage

The deal would be the latest in a series of acquisitions made by First Artist, led by chief executive and founder Jon Smith, as it diversifies from representing footballers.

It continues to act for stars including Arsenal’s Fredrik Ljungberg and Chelsea’s Petr Cech, but has branched out into wealth management, sports sponsorship and staging corporate events.

It expanded its stable of entertainment stars through a merger last summer with NCI Management, which acts for television presenters and sports commentators.

Dewynters, which is run by Robert De Wynter and Anthony Pye-Jeary, was established in its current form in 1980. An early success was its international branding of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats.

Today, it is involved with many of the leading shows in London’s West End, with Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Lord Lloyd Webber among its big clients. It has created the ads for productions including The Sound of Music, Spamalot and Mamma Mia.
