Businesses are “sleepwalking to massive penalties” by not being ready for new EU data protection laws set to come into force at the end of May, a leading American data scientist has warned.

Research by Jeff Jonas, the “wizard of big data”, found that 60% of companies did not have structures in place to deal with the general data protection regulation (GDPR).

GDPR gives people rights to access any information about themselves held by companies, within 30 days of making a request.
