Half of the tracks here are from Norman Cook’s 1990s heyday, when he was one of the rare DJs to transcend club culture. And while collaborations with Bootsy Collins and Macy Gray hinted at a more thoughtful direction, his template of whacky samples, guitar riffs and loping breakbeats has remained largely unchanged. Indeed, given the pre-Fatboy career of this former Housemartin, a wider retrospective would have been more interesting.
