With roots dating back to 1701, Farrer & Co has advised monarchs, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, as well as other wealthy individuals, families, businesses, and educational and not-for-profit organisations.

Recent work includes advising the National Portrait Gallery on its £50 million joint acquisition with the Getty of Joshua Reynolds’ Portrait of Mai (Omai), c 1776 — a work described as “one of the most important, influential portraits in the history of British art”. The deal marked an unusual move by the UK and US institutions to jointly purchase the work.

The firm advised a prominent Middle Eastern client on acquiring and financing the Corn Exchange in central Manchester for about £38 million.

It also advised S-Ventures in its acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of Hero UK, trading as Juvela. S-Ventures group invests in and grows brands across the natural, wellness and food-tech categories. The firm also advised on its new loan facilities provided by Shawbrook Bank for financing the acquisition and its working capital needs.
