Fans grounded by emergency

Hundreds of England fans heading for Germany were left stranded yesterday as Birmingham International Airport cancelled flights after a TNT freight aircraft made an emergency landing at 6am and blocked the runway. Heartbroken fans, some of whom had paid hundreds of pounds for flights and tickets for the England game against Trinidad & Tobago, were among the thousands of travellers affected. Most were taken by bus to other airports. The runway reopened fully shortly after 4pm.
