Sir, I cannot speak of the sounds that recall or reflect a good military parade (letters, Aug 29 & Sept 2) but I vividly remember the potent smell of shaving soap as a church parade filed into Old Hunstanton Church, Norfolk, on a lovely Sunday morning in 1944.
