WARNING: This video contains footage of a very hairy man very nearly naked. All in a good/potentially deadly cause, though: I’m stripping off in order to get fully thermal’ed up and kitted out in preparation for my trek to Everest Base Camp.
Tackling the world’s highest mountain (and temperatures in the -20s°C) isn’t a job for a t-shirt and jeans, it seems; but luckily the experts at Cotswold Outdoor and The North Face were on hand to help me. Total cost: around £500 (I was starting completely from scratch) – but what price survival?
There are two more instalments of Ed’s video diary to come over the next three weeks (we’d planned three, but, well, you’ll see what happened...). See the first installment here: Everest Ed: Episode 1 - The Unpreparedness of Ed
