Euro dreams end for Sidwell and Pizarro

Avram Grant will demonstrate his ruthless side today by omitting Claudio Pizarro and Steve Sidwell from his squad for the knockout phase of the Champions League. The Chelsea first-team coach wants to integrate Michael Ballack, who was left out of the squad for the group stage because of injury, and Nicolas Anelka, who arrived from Bolton Wanderers last month. Branislav Ivanovic, the defender, will also miss out because Grant can name only 23 players in the squad to be submitted to Uefa.
