Ernie without Eric?

You cannot separate Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear — the two belong together, as the BBC should realise

Sir, If a producer cannot manage one of his most talented stars then surely he should be the one to go (“Clarkson suspended for ‘punch’ at Top Gear boss”, Mar 11). However, I suppose Danny Cohen can afford to say “no one is bigger than the club” when his “club” receives nearly £4 billion in licence fees. I would suspect that Jeremy Clarkson and his co-presenters would not have to look far to find another backer for their show; and it is their show. Top Gear without Clarkson would be like Ernie without Eric — it just wouldn’t work.

Sir, In the light of Jeremy Clarkson’s latest alleged misdemeanour, it has just dawned upon me that “Top Gear” is an anagram of “Ego Trap”.
