EBR Attridge, a leading criminal practice with five offices in central and south London, has more than 100 lawyers, including a number of higher court advocates. It receives more than 8,000 criminal defence instructions a year.

Recent work includes representing “SE”, who was charged with attempted murder, securing a stay of the proceedings as an abuse of process. The defendant, who was accused of attempting to kill the complainant in two separate incidents, had previously been acquitted of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. The judge ruled that the prosecution for attempted murder amounted to an abuse of process of the court and would be tantamount to the defendant being tried again for the same offence of which he had been acquitted.

The firm also acted for a woman known as “B”, a woman employed by a leading British bank who was charged with money laundering and stealing £100,000. The prosecution dropped the charges after a disclosure review; it was argued that the bank’s internal investigation into the alleged offences, on which the prosecution was based, had been flawed.
