An Irish-based Pakistani-born businessman has sought planning permission for a 427-bedroom hotel close to Dublin Airport.
Jalaluddin Kajani, who owned two boutique hotels in Kensington in London, is planning the 10-storey project on Stockhole Lane at Clonshaugh, near the airport. It would have 317 bedrooms and 110 suites, with leisure facilities, meeting rooms and 461 parking spaces.
The plans have been submitted by Carra Shore Hotel (Dublin) Limited, which lists Jalaluddin and Mawash Kajani as its directors. Another Carra Shore company has sought permission for a hotel in Cork.
A new hotel close to Dublin Airport would pose competition for hotel group Dalata, which plans to add 140 rooms to the 467-bed Clayton Dublin Airport hotel. CG Hotels, which owns the Radisson Blu hotel at the airport, has the go-ahead to add 131 rooms to its 229-bed hotel, and also plans to build a new 144-bed hotel beside the existing hotel.
Jalaluddin Kajani is an Irish citizen, having come here in the 1980s. He took a legal action in 2012 to stop IBRC selling his hotels and a commercial property in London.
