Drone raid ethics

What is the difference between terrorists who plant explosive devices in civilian areas and drone attacks in civilian areas?

Sir, Tim Montgomerie defends and fails to see the moral vacuum in his argument defending the drone attacks (“What Israel fears is seeing Obama re-elected”, June 4). I would ask him what is the moral and military difference between the terrorists who plant explosive devices in civilian areas and the drone attacks which attack civilian areas?

Both identify targets and then execute their planned action. Both result in taking away their target, (sometimes not) however crudely or with sophistication identified, and then the inevitable collateral damage. Any individual with a conscience should be uncomfortable with both, whatever the justification.
