Driver took tank and crushed car

NORTHALLERTON A man who crushed a car with a tank as a soldier filmed the act on a mobile phone before broadcasting it on the internet was banned from driving yesterday. The footage, recorded in July last year by a soldier from the 2nd Duke of Lancaster Regiment from Merseyside, showed Jack Carroll, 22, driving the 25-tonne Warrior tank, from Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, and crushing an abandoned car. At Northallerton Magistrates’ Court, Carroll, from Anfield, Merseyside, admitted taking the tank without consent. He was sentenced to a year’s driving ban and 200 hours of unpaid work.
