Drink Drank Drunk

12A, 101mins

Tung Shing Yee’s Drink Drank Drunk is a lurid comedy about the wonders of binge drinking in Hong Kong. Miriam Yeung is a spiky teenage beer-seller who falls for an exotic French chef (Daniel Wu). They set up a restaurant, fall into bed, and are duly torn apart when a rich vamp swoops in, sweeps Wu off his feet and installs him as the toyboy manager of her food chain empire.

It’s a shrill and shallow rites-of-passage film where the cast guzzles vast quantities of alcohol in order to throw up, or impress the glassy-eyed teens about to do likewise on the other side of the table. The moral? Who knows.
