Sir, Oxford’s understanding of the importance of canine education in the 1970s was exceptional (“Canis Felix”, Aug 30). Not only did James Campbell, as Dean of Worcester, allow me to bring my labrador to his tutorials as a cat, but Dom James Forbes, the master of St Benet’s Hall, enrolled my dog, allowing me to attend the university as its handler.
