The group, headed by Dr Susan Kennedy, will get 7% of the bidding company as free shares but will also have the right to purchase a further 25%.
A total of 90 consultants will be eligible to purchase a further 30% of the equity. The remainder of the company will be available to outside investors.
The division of a higher portion of equity to promoters of a project is not unusual, but it is understood that some of the 90 consultants are disappointed with the equity offered to them and may seek a larger share.
The consultants’ bid is expected to be among the favourites for the hospital, which is being sold by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. It is estimated to be valued at up to €100m.
