Stella’s modest £4.75m nest
Residents of Notting Hill can expect fewer gap-year Australians getting under their feet. Stella McCartney has reportedly paid £4.75 million for a 37-room backpackers’ hostel and plans to turn it into a family home. The pregnant designer is said to be planning a nursery and huge children’s bathroom for the baby and Miller, her 20-month-old son, a gym, dressing rooms and a “media centre” (a home cinema — not a press hangout). There will still be a lot of spare rooms. The Prince of Wales is planning to let his new home in Wales when he’s not there. Perhaps Stella could offer rooms at competitive rates to former models who are coming to terms with changed personal circumstances. Her dad might know someone needing help.
