Sir, Russia, by refusing to sanction international action, must take some responsibility for the deaths in Syria. Even last year it abstained in the Security Council vote that allowed limited force in Libya to protect the civilian population. In the meantime many more Syrians will be murdered.
One thing can be done right now. It should be made very clear to President Assad and his allies that they are not immune. One day the world will catch up with them, just as it did with Charles Taylor, Radko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic. Of course it would be better to prevent the slaughter but if that does not happen, at least we can try to punish the perpetrators.
