After six years, Dawson’s Creek, the soul-searching teen drama that set the pace before The OC came along, draws to a close. Unfortunately, the tender indulgence of teenage discovery that made previous seasons magical is now tired, even more so now that the old storylines are being recycled with more sex thrown in for good measure.

Loud-mouth Audrey’s battle with the bottle is prolonged, while sensible stunner Joey Potter (Holmes) bores with repeated traumas over former boyfriends Dawson (Van Der Beek) and Pacey (Jackson). The two-hour finale is the highlight, with the gang reunited five years on for one final heart-wrenching flourish.
