A photograph of David Cameron apparently clutching a glass of wine in one hand and a cigarette in the other as he embraced a pink-haired woman backstage at a music festival went viral yesterday.
What the picture appeared to suggest was that the former prime minister was blissfully unaware that the rear of his admirer’s sequinned jacket featured a large heart containing the name “Corbyn”.
The coat expressing a love of the Labour leader belonged to Lucy Edwards, 29, the manager of an art gallery in Soho, who claimed to have encountered Mr Cameron on Saturday night at the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire.
She posted evidence of their encounter on Instagram, insisting that the photograph had not been manipulated. A spokesman for Mr Cameron would not confirm this.
In a message to friends she joked: “Couldn’t have even planned it . . . big Dave C in the house, shame he can’t read.” She added: “He was so mad when he saw me walk off with what was on my back.”

The photography graduate, originally from Ormskirk, Lancashire, describes herself as an arts consultant and gallery manager. She had earlier pictured her group’s tents alongside an expensive Range Rover at the start of the weekend.
