Could replacing silver-plated cutlery with stainless steel knives and forks lead to an outbreak of tummy bugs in the House of Commons?

Sir, Your correspondents (Mar 10) omitted to mention the health benefits of retaining the “family silver” in the Commons. Silver — like brass and bronze — discourages the survival of bacteria and viruses, so changing to stainless steel cutlery may increase the spread of tummy bugs in parliament.
