Sir, Coughing at concerts has been receiving an awfully bad press in your columns of late (letters, Jan 19, 25 and 29). I think one should adopt a phlegmatic approach.
At a concert of modern music I attended recently, coughing constituted the only semblance of melody to be heard, and the instances of multiple stereophonic coughing added at least a modicum of harmony to the occasion.
