September 13: The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Glasgow Airport and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Mrs Duncan Cameron, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Argyle Street, Glasgow, and were received by Councillor Mrs George Baird (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the galleries and met benefactors and staff, escorted by Mrs Jack McConnell (Executive Director, Culture and Sport, Glasgow City Council) and Mr Mark O’Neill (Head of Arts and Museums, Glasgow City Council) respectively, to mark the completion of the redevelopment of the Art Gallery and Museum.

Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh were subsequently entertained to Lunch at Kelvingrove by the Lord Provost.

September 13: The Prince of Wales, Colonel, Welsh Guards, this morning received Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Bathurst upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Richard Stanford upon assuming the appointment.

The Prince of Wales, President, Business in the Community and His Royal Highness’s Business and the Environment Programme, met leaders of the United Kingdom insurance industry.
