I’m off!
What, now? Where are you going?
To the Highlands. I’m on a mission.
Of course you are. What is this mighty calling?
Saving the loneliest sheep in Britain!
Explain.
Have you not heard about the ewe who has been stranded alone at the bottom of a Scottish cliff for at least two years?
Shockingly, I haven’t.
Allow me to enlighten you. In 2021 Jillian Turner took a trip from Balintore to Nigg with the East Sutherland Canoe Club. And she saw the lonely sheep.
Is that it?

No! Turner went back recently and reported that the poor animal is still confined on the same small bit of beach. She still hadn’t managed to escape! Imagine how horrible that would be — she is a flock animal and also there was that terrible storm in the area recently.
That is rather sad, I must say.
She is definitely craving contact with others. This is what Turner told The Northern Times about her: “She called out on our approach and once again followed the group along the shore, jumping from rock to rock, calling to us the whole way.”
The desperate woolly thing . . .
Very woolly, for sure — her fleece is apparently touching the ground now.
Has nobody come to the ewe’s rescue?
Well she is not the same breed as those belonging to local farmers. But drones have been sent to check on her. And I’m off to save her!
I’ll come too!
