Corrections and clarifications: Oct 21, 2015

We reported that British Gas and EON had failed to reply to a letter from Amber Rudd, the Secretary of State for Energy (“Suppliers ignore plea to lower energy bills”, Oct 20). This was based on the response of the Department of Energy and Climate Change to a Freedom of Information request. The department has since said that it misunderstood the request, and that British Gas and EON did in fact acknowledge receipt of Ms Rudd’s letter. We are happy to correct the record.
